A local standout from Marion, Baker established himself as SIU's No. 2 runner during his freshman year and will look to challenge Doron Giat for the No. 1 spot in 2002. Placed 23rd at the MVC Championships (25:48 in 8K), and had a season-best 8K time of 25:27 at the Saluki Invitational, placing 9th. Had three top-10 finishes in five meets overall.
